We had a few friends to dinner at the weekend and decided to make something, so we got a receipe from the Jamie Oliver Cookbook and the Ainsley Harriot Cookbook and set about making a couple of dishes. First of all it gave us a good excuse to visit our favourite local shop
which is the Italian Continental Stores inVicarige Road, Maidenhead.

Full of goregous lovely food ,mainly Italian but also loads of Chinese and Spanish foods - you name it - good range of meats , pastas and wines, spirits and beers. The sales person persuaded us to buy some Grappa (didn't take too much persuasion) and we also came away with pastas and proscuitio ham, italian sausage and fresh herbs. Anyhow, a fab shop.
I made a rather good PESTO from scratch - using olive oil, basil leaves, and pine nuts in a liquidiser - which was added to strips of chicken and fafille pasta. Pat made some Raviolli from scratch - proscuittio ham , buffalo mozarella, sun dried tomatoes and strips of fresh pasta. It all ended up rather delicious though I say so myself and was enjoyed by all!
Next day we were invited to the Rose and Crown, Warfield to celebrate Dilwyns birthday - had a
rather delicious sausage and mash followed by treacle tart - followed by birthday cake (in the shape of a pair of breasts wearing a bra).
Now we are all supposed to be on a diet - oh dear - it has rather gone by the wayside this weeekend!
