Me and Pat had a trip to Pinewood studios yesterday. They were shooting scenes for the new Jennifer Saunders comedy 'Vivienne Vyle' in which she plays a chat-show host in the style of Jeremy Kyle/Trisha/Jerry Springer i.e. awful cheap daytime show.
We were the audience for the said show so we dressed in our worst clothes as requested... as it turned out we were on the front row of an audience of about 60 people and we were required to basically shout out and boo and clap at the 'guests' - Pat really got into it with shouts of 'Waster' and 'Get a Job' at the couple on stage. It was better than the average audience show in that we were very much part of the programme as opposed to just observing and of course we had to look serious and not laugh even though its a comedy obviously. There was one scene where 'Vivienne' had to end the show by walking into the audience ... I got to do the first handshake and Pat got kissed on both cheeks by Jennifer (take1) but not in take 2 so we'll see which ends up in the show.
The idea of the programme is that Jennifer is a chat show host sorting out peoples problems but in her day to day life she is a bit of a disaster - the chat show scenes only take up a small part of the show so we'll see what gets left in when its shown later in the year. We should be in shows 2/3 and possibly 4 - though loads of reaction shots were done so we could end up in any (or none) of them. A couple of people had gelatine painted on their faces for some 'crying' shots, a reaction to when the couple's kids are suprisingly backstage (which we didn't see cos it hadn't been filmed)
Acting sweety!
We got our petrol money and got fed as well -very nice Chilli con Carne followed by cheese and buscuits though Pat had some good rice pudding. Can't wait to see the show when it appears.

Saw a link to your blog from the bbc 2 site - do think this series will be a return to form. I was a a bit dissapointed with jam and jerusalem?
Thanks very much Jennifer Saunders. Being called Vivienne, I fully expect to have the mickey taken mercilessly out of my name now. For that reason alone I hope it is unsuccessful and dropped by the Beeb very quickly.
Theres a link on the BBC2 site???
How did that happen?
Difficult to say what the show will be like as obviously I've only seen the very short audience scenes. I like the premise of the show though and of course I'll be watching to see if we're in it!
